Ok, so I have to go interstate for work, and I'm still breastfeeding and pumping etc.
I'll take my pump (hope I don't get crash tackled by security who possibly haven't seen an electric pump in carry on luggage before??) but I'm guessing that I won't be able to take the milk back with me, because of the liquid limits ...?
has anyone done this?
does anyone have any ideas?
or does anyone know anyone who works at the airport of on planes, who might have an idea?
Im prety sure you would be ok with milk, there is an allowance for formula I remember seeing on jetstars flight info, cant see why it would be different for BM?
Hello, my sis is a Virgin Blue pilot and I don't think the limits are true for domestic travel, only for international.
I would check the info on the airlines website, they usually have a bunch of info up online.
Who are you flying with?
All of them allow up to 5 litres of alcohol - so i'm sure they wouldnt mind up to 5 litres of breast milk! lol!
Also, info on travelling with infants/children in general:
Tell the people running the scanner that the funny box is a milking machine - otherwise they will ask, but there won't be any problems.
There are no liquid limits on domestic flights, and the limit on international flights is that they must be in no more than 100 ml bottles and fit in a zip-lock bag - so if you did have to go international then you could actually take some milk home, but you'd need some smaller bottles (like the newborn ones).

I flew interstate on Tuesday and had numerous bottles of 200mls plus a few of the avent containers with milk in them. It was all in my nappy bag and I wasn't even questioned about it. I flew Qantas.
I also flew with a pump & fair bit of EBM a couple of years ago and wasn't queried about any of it.
Of course the other option would be to flummox them with detail... well you see, I put this bit HERE and then I turn the dial THERE and the breastmilk comes out HERE!!! Here's some I prepared earlier...
There are no liquid restrictions at all (like there are for intl flights) on domestic flights.
You will be fine.
As for the pump, you are allowed to carry anything you like on the plane so long as it is not hazardous or flammable. So again, you will have no issues. They may ask you what it is if they aren't sure, but there is no problem with carrying either BM or your BP.
and if anyone is suss because I don't have bubba with me, my answers pretty simple ... if he was here, I wouldn't need all this!!! Duh.
